My Story

I’ve always loved animals and after 4 kids I’ve had everything as a “pet”. From turtles, domestic and found, to squirrels, cats & kittens, dogs & puppies, birds & eggs, horses & foal, pigs, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters & babies, mice & babies, fish, snakes, lizards, and frogs. I have never been without a pet in 63 years. But after all that, my favorite pet so far is my 21-year-old son’s Ragdoll kitten, Luca. She was calm, lazy, beautiful to look at, and demanded to be petted. We just loved her immediately, and she was everything I liked and wanted in a companion. My son was born with Neurofibromatosis and is blind in his right eye, which also comes with ADHD for life and anxiety. The first time he held her I watched him instantly relax before me! I am sold on the temperament of these beauties, and the magic of these Ragdoll cats.

I have been retired for 10 years, but before that, I had my own business, and after that, I sold cookie dough to elementary school PTA moms for their kids’ fundraisers. I decided to study this magical breed of cats and get myself one. I talked my middle daughter into getting one, hoping to enlighten others about the benefits of living with a Ragdoll or two. After finding out that cats are healers, I was even more excited! They are multi-dimensional. Every breed of cat’s temperament is different, much like dogs. These Ragdolls need and want you. They will cry for you; they will meet you at the door and forever crave your attention. It doesn’t matter your age; they are even wonderful with kids.

I spent 8 months studying the colors and patterns and researching information before deciding to breed Ragdolls. I even traveled to Florida for 5 days to spend time at a cattery, as I believed it would be beneficial to learn the intricacies of breeding from an expert.

I tend to like animals that look different from the typical example of their breed. One of the most exciting things is the Ragdoll breed’s ever-changing color based on genetics; pigmentation mixed with the temperature. The cooler the weather the darker the Ragdoll’s coat. Their color unfolds over the first 4 years. There are over 60 different color combos for the Ragdolls, but most of all the temperament is why I wanted to start breeding. Regardless of their coloration or patterns, all purebred Ragdolls are famous for their extreme loyalty, inquisitiveness, immensely affectionate nature, and of course, the Ragdoll flop that invites the soft belly rubs!

Ragdolls are used as therapy animals because of their calm, loving, docile nature and their relaxing purring. My hand-tamed kittens will live in my home, and once litter-trained will roam my house. I plan to only have at most two litters at a time, so we can play with all of them every day, help develop their personalities, and get them well socialized. The benefit for me is seeing my 21-year-old son Trooper and his kitty Luca. Overall, my husband and son now are so much calmer, the house is quieter, and things feel serene. A Ragdoll's quiet demeanor brings a Zen calm into your home. I pray you all will love this wonderful breed as much as I do.
